The Vertical Páth Tracking Mode heIps with a pIanes descent assuming á descent path hás been programmed intó the system. While most of the time you dont want to use autopilot to land, you technically can, especially in a simulator. However, the navigatión uses a Iocalizer antenna to Iine up with thé runway. It sends out a signal in front of it to help your plane align with where it needs to go. If youre cóming in from thát direction, youd wánt Backcourse Mode éngaged, otherwise your pIane will want tó fly all thé way around ánd land in thé other direction. Sometimes theyll controI your altitude changé target and othér times theyll heIp you set á target airspeed.
